Intro

The journey has begun. In 2121, Moonbreaker will transform the dark side of the moon into a sonic utopia, where sound is the basis of all sensory experience. Food is consumed in the form of sound waves. Orientation works by means of an acoustic navigation system, and humans themselves transcend into beings of pure sound, dissolving the limits of appearance, origin, gender or class.

Moonbreaker 2121 gathers the creative expertise and wisdom of a wide range of visionary musicians, sound designers, architects, gurus and computer experts. The planetarium acts as a simulator. A 360° sound and video installation brings the artistic, social and political visions for Moonbreaker 2121 to contemporary audiences - unfolding and evolving each year as the festival approaches.

About

With 360° FullDome projection by video artist Rocco Helmchen, the near-future utopia of the dark side of the moon is brought to life in the audiovisual immersive bubble of the planetarium.

Visitors will be among the first to experience specially commissioned pieces for Moonbreaker 2121, including the cryogenic experiments of a vaporwave trio, field recordings of earth birds who have emigrated to the moon, future-defining algorithms and dream sounds, robots and moon-rovers, a long-lost audio game and other lunar artefacts of the future.

The early-bird planetarium experience also offers behind-the-scenes insights into the research and development of the project with Festival Director Vinko Sauerstrom, as well as exclusive reports and reviews from future festivalgoers.
